A quick question:
Are you really the master of your own destiny when it comes to your online marketing?
If that’s a resounding yes, then you can skip this post. But if you’re not too sure, then read on…
Let’s clarify a few points:
It is getting harder to keep up with the amount of different ways were being told to effectively market ourselves online.
Do you go down the paid advertising route?
Or jump on the social media merry go round, and hope that you cancling on as it speeds up faster and faster.
Well, there’s an issue to consider with these types of marketing platforms. Fortunately, it’s not something to worry too much about because you can avoid it all together. But only if you decide to create your email list alternatively.
The downside is that when leveraging advertising on Google and other search engines. There’s one serious caveat to consider, likewise, with any social media channel…
And that is:
*YOU DO NOT HAVE OWNERSHIP OVER YOUR MARKETING EFFORTS!
It’s as simple as this –
NO OWNERSHIP = NO GAURANTEE OF ENTRY
Unless you can market yourself on a platform where you can pull the strings, you’ll constantly be under the thumb of it master.
And to make things worse, you’ll be told what content you can create. You can easily find yourself locked out, and or limited access. Put it this way any of these platforms can suddenly shut you down without any notice. We’ve all heard the horror stories.
Most of them are true. And what can you seriously do about it when your money carpet has been pulled from underneath you? Not much it seems. All that a platform needs to do is change it’s algorithm and your online masterplan can be wiped out.
However, there is a solution to all this uncertainty, and that is
Email Marketing. Granted it’s not perfect, but it has a lot going for it, and it’s stood the test of time, so far. Now you probably don’t own your own email service, with your own server.
(There are some marketers who do.)
However, the chances of you logging on to your esp. and it not being there are virtually nil.
It comes down to simple business ethics.
Your esp. doesn’t have a vested interest in what you’re emailing to your lists. And there lies the great opportunity for you as regards your marketing exploits. You pretty much have an open road when it comes to being able to promote your products and services.
But let’s be smart about this, sending multiple emails within a short time period isn’t always appreciated. So, don’t leave yourself open to being marked as a spammer by your own audience. No, better to exercise caution, and rest in the knowledge that the emails you are sending, will always be working hard on your behalf to maximize engagement.
Where Exactly Is The Money?
It matters not if you’re just starting out on your journey to make money online, or even if you’re well on your way. The term “The Money Is In The List” could not be more true.
This term should stay in the front of your mind because it is absolutely crucial.
Whatever you do, if nothing else, build your email list.
This positions you perfectly, to provide your audience with exactly the kind of value, they want and desire.
